Event Details

Since 1987, Library Card Sign-up Month has been held each September to mark the beginning of the school year. During the month, the ALA (American Library Association) and libraries unite together in a national effort to ensure every child signs up for their own library card.

There is nothing more empowering than signing up for your own library card. Through access to technology, media resources and educational programs, a library card gives children a head start on literacy skills before they even reach the classroom.

Sign up for a library card at one of 3 locations and find something wonderful at your library! If your card is lost or damaged, we will also be offering free replacement cards during the month of September. Save yourself $2.50 and come by one of our 3 locations!

One Community, One Card
Continuing for the 2024-2025 school year, all students (and faculty) enrolled in the Summit County School District automatically have a Summit County Public Library Card. All they need is their school ID number to access our digital resources and physical collection. No physical card needed, just the number!

Children's Library Cards
If your child is not quite old enough for the One Card for SSD students, we invite those ages birth to kindergarten to still carry their very own Fox library card.
